"We started looking for property in Ashe County around 2002. We were in school at Appalachian back in the '70s and knew someday we would come back. We looked on our own by making day trips to the area from our current residence in Randolph County NC. Over the years we must have made at least 100 of these trips. We finally got serious about moving in 2015. We started with a different agency from the area but that didn't work out too well. We then decided to find a realtor that we felt would really work for us and do all the " little " things that would be needed to show us any and all possible properties that might suit us. We did our research and came up with Mountainscape Realty, and more specifically Joe Chamberlain. We felt like Joe would go above and beyond for us so we called him and made an appointment to meet and look at a few homes at that first meeting. We were right. Joe and his staff did everything we asked him to and much more. After getting into this we discovered how much there was that we did not know. We also realized on that first trip with Joe that we really did not have the right price point as our goal and needed to wait a while for our circumstances to change to allow us to get the home we really wanted. To complicate things we weren't sure if we just wanted a 'vacation home' or a permanent home. No matter what we threw at Joe he was patient with us and helped us work through all the details to get what we wanted and not what he 'thought' we wanted. We were very naive about the workings of the business and Joe guided us every step of the way. Joe stayed in constant contact with us and kept us up to date as the market changed radically in the spring of 2018. After personally taking us to visit 18 or so homes we found one that we all three felt was just right for us. We knew immediately it was right but Joe did not stop there. He took us through every step of buying even though we were 'out of town'. Most of this was done on the Internet which was all new to us. Joe explained the details and set everything up for us so that the 'closing' was very short and easy. We would, and have, recommended Joe and Mountainscape to many.
